How I got started

Updated: Mar 23, 2020

Being a ceramic artist inspired by nature, I'm finding that creating beautiful pieces in clay is a wonderful expression for my flair for sculpture and realism. I've created a line of pottery called Birch ware that I'm sure you'll be interested in.  These pieces have a beautiful outside texture. My home decorative pieces, candle pillars, tea lights and vases all have tree nubs, which adds a touch of realism.

This all began by a desire to bless my nephew and his future wife with a keepsake for their wedding gift.  I decided to design a birch vase with a carved heart and engraved their initials ....just like you would see on a tree.  I didn't know if it would work, but when I opened my kiln I was pleasantly surprised to see that IT DID!  IT WORKED!! It not only worked, but is was beautiful!  I was so pleased, and so were they when they received their beautiful keepsake. That was the beginning of my journey into the world of pottery and fine art. Today, I am able to offer my clients a Birch ware Pottery line that is truly a one-of-a-kind creation, as well as food safe, functional and decorative. I'll be keeping in touch in a later update.  Until then, explore your gifts!  You'll never know how far you can go until you try!
